What we learned from Murray Bridge News’ 2026 reader survey

Jenny Contos has been a free subscriber to Murray Bridge News right from the beginning.
The retiree and long-time local has used her tablet to read about what’s happening around the Murraylands since the week after we launched in 2020.
She most enjoys our coverage of local events, council decisions, politics and profiles of interesting people.
“It’s fairly down-to-earth news,” she said.
“It’s very reasonable.”
This week, she scored a free upgrade to her subscription, plus another $250 worth of prizes, after being selected at random as the winner of Murray Bridge News’ annual reader survey giveaway.
Among her winnings were a $100 voucher for the 1924 Riverfront Steakhouse and a $50 voucher from the local Drakes supermarket.
So: what did we learn from this year’s survey?
Survey says…
More than 260 people responded to our annual reader survey this year.
Asked how likely they were to recommend Murray Bridge News, the average response was nine out of 10, for a net promoter score of plus 57.
Readers said we provided informative, easy-to-read stories about what was happening in the Murraylands.
- 97 per cent said we were mostly positive
- 94% said we helped them feel more connected to their community
- 74% said they had made a purchase, attended an event or donated to a cause after reading about it in Murray Bridge News
- 70% said they felt more empowered to have their say about local issues
Across all demographics, respondents were more likely to have seen Murray Bridge News content than social media, search, streaming, TV or radio.
The top three issues in the Murraylands at the moment, according to survey respondents, were:
- Housing and homelessness
- Cost of living
- Growth and development
Respondents also submitted some fantastically positive feedback about our Murraylands Life magazine, Murraylands Business Awards and other events, and had some great suggestions, too.
