BMX and mountain bike riders will be able to get their first look at designs for a new bike park in Murray Bridge this weekend.

The city’s council is looking at building an off-road bike park on the back half of Sturt Reserve, to complement the existing skate park.

Now a group called the Trail Collective has done up a concept design.

Riders and other residents will be able to check it out, and offer feedback, at the Station this Saturday between 12 and 2pm.

Mayor Wayne Thorley said young people deserved an opportunity to help shape the development of Murray Bridge’s riverfront.

“Council supports the creation of a family-friendly, safe recreation space for beginners and intermediate bike riders, involving extensive landscaping in an attractive and accessible riverfront location,” he said.

“Our consultants heard from young people, BMX and MTB riders of all ages, local residents, playground and park users and the broader Murray Bridge community (during an earlier consultation stage).

“This project is a chance for them to have a real say … to give them a voice and ensure we are catering for their needs.”
