Are you passionate about sports and recreation, and helping local sporting clubs upgrade their facilities?

Here’s a volunteer opportunity that may be right for you.

The Murray Bridge council is looking to fill five places on a new sports and recreation advisory group, tasked with looking at grant applications and recommending whether or not they should be funded.

It wouldn’t be a big time commitment – perhaps four meetings per year.

The council’s youth, sport and recreation team leader, Kevin Heyndyk, said the volunteer group members would sit alongside two members of an existing community advisory committee, plus council staff.

“The role of the committee is to assess sport and recreation facilities grant applications, provide specific and relevant skills and knowledge of sport and recreation in the region, and advise council on strategic priorities within sport and recreation,” he said.

“Group members should demonstrate wide ranging sport and recreation interests and a passion for the Rural City of Murray Bridge.”

Meetings will be held at a time that suits members.

Members will be appointed for a two-year period.
