Unity College senior resource centre upgrades unveiled
The Murray Bridge private school has celebrated the completion of upgrades to its senior library.
A local school's resource centre has officially celebrated its refurbishment across two stages of upgrades.
The completion of Unity College’s middle senior resource centre upgrade project was celebrated last Wednesday with an official opening attended by special guests, staff and students.
The refurbishment has created classrooms with glass internal walls, giving access directly to the resource centre.
It also includes
- two breakout/meeting rooms
- fully equipped and soundproofed media/podcast room
- all new finishes including carpet and painting
- new furniture
- custom joinery to provide breakout/study options for students
Unity College's resource centre has evolved beyond the traditional library of the past.
It now incorporates spaces for group work and collaboration, media and content creation, and provides a meeting place for student-led groups.
The spaces support both the curriculum and social development goals of the college.
The refurbishment is part of its ongoing works and refurbishment program.
Projects due for completion over the next term include a total interior renovation of the Steeple and the establishment of agriculture facilities on the junior campus.
Francois Pienaar, principal of Unity College Murraylands, said the school had been implementing improvements over the last few years to ensure high quality learning spaces for students.
"We are proud to be able to offer our students modern facilities such as the new media/podcast room so they have the opportunity to learn skills that are relevant to our modern world, with state of the art equipment," he said.
"Well maintained, contemporary and cared-for grounds and facilities provide our students with the best possible environment for effective learning."
Unity College acknowledged the generous support of the South Australian government in assisting to part fund the project with a capital grant.
Recently, the college has also established an early learning centre and junior school bush block, completed major upgrades on the junior and middle/senior resource centres, and begun a staged interior and exterior painting program across both campuses.
