Tailem Bend Football Club is gearing up for a promising 2025 season under the guidance of former AFL star Tyson Edwards.

Edwards, now head coach, says he is “loving” the experience and is thrilled by the progress he has seen in the squad.

“We’ve already seen improvement in the group,” he said.

“We had some good sessions in before Christmas and great numbers attending each one.

“The most positive thing is how the group has attacked training.

“Sometimes I’ve had to pull them back a bit because the intensity has been outstanding.”

Edwards believes the commitment shown by the players is setting the club up for a strong season.

“It’s looking like a very good year for the Tailem Bend Football Club, and the community is excited to see some results,” he said.

“While results aren’t everything, they definitely help boost morale, and it’s great for the club’s long-standing history.”

Football in Tailem Bend has a long and colourful history; its origins can be traced back to the last decade of the 19th century, with newspaper references appearing as early as 1895.

For the coach, success in the 21st century is not just about winning, but also about team building.

“It’s not all about the wins; it’s about building strong, resilient teams and fostering a sense of unity within the community,” he said.

“That’s what country football and netball is all about.”

With the team’s solid effort on the track and Edwards’s leadership, Tailem Bend supporters are eagerly awaiting the season opener, hopeful for a rewarding year ahead.
