The men were allegedly hit by a Toyota four-wheel drive as it left the scene of the altercation – which reportedly involved about 10 people – at the corner of Homburg Drive and Hilton Street, near Homburg Park.

The men were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver, a 57-year-old local man, later handed himself in at the police station on Swanport Road.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering life, and two of failing to help after a collision.

Police granted him bail ahead of an appearance at Murray Bridge Magistrates’ Court.
