Truckie arrested for drug driving at Tailem Bend
Plus a fallen branch causes a power outage in Murray Bridge and police investigate several fires at Pallamana.
A truck driver has been charged after allegedly being caught driving on drugs, while disqualified, at Tailem Bend last week.
Police stopped his B-double on the Princes Highway just after 9.30pm last Thursday.
They alleged that the 38-year-old Para Hills man:
- Tested positive to drugs
- Had been driving while disqualified
- Had committed offences around his hours of work
- Had with him medication for which he did not have a prescription
The truck’s speed limiter had also been set to 130 kilometres per hour instead of 100, as required by law, police said.
They arrested the the driver, charged him with drug driving, and impounded the truck.
Fallen branch causes power outage
Emergency services and SA Power Networks have cleared up a fallen tree which left 46 Murray Bridge households without electricity on Friday night.
The tree came down on Mulgundawah Road around 10.30pm.
State Emergency Service volunteers and Metropolitan Fire Service firefighters were involved with the clean-up.
Pallamana grass fires investigated
Police are investigating whether a series of fires at Pallamana on January 19 were accidental or deliberately lit.
The Country Fire Service responded to reports of several grass fires along Pallamana Road around 11.30am on that day.
Firefighters were able to bring the fires under control in about an hour and 40 minutes, with help from water bombers.
Crime scene investigators later visited the scene.
