A hoon has had his car impounded after being caught allegedly doing doughnuts on Swanport Road on Monday night.

A police patrol spotted a black Ford Falcon turning onto the road “at speed” around 7.50pm.

It then allegedly did two doughnuts across both lanes of the road, when other cars were nearby.

Officers stopped the car and reported its driver, a 27-year-old Kidman Park man, for misusing a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and failing to keep a vehicle roadworthy.

Police defected the car and took it for 28 days.

Drink driver was five times over the limit

A Murray Bridge man has been disqualified from driving after allegedly returning a blood alcohol reading more than five times over the legal limit on Wednesday morning.

Police breath-tested the 35-year-old on Adelaide Road at 10.30am.

He allegedly blew 0.257.

Officers impounded his Holden sedan and instructed him to expect a court summons.

Eastbound traffic, heading from Adelaide towards Murray Bridge, was initially reduced to one lane, then diverted via the Old Princes Highway for several hours.

Thanks, volunteers

Finally, SA Police have hosted a barbecue for all the volunteers who make Murray Bridge a safer community.

About 20 members of Neighbourhood Watch, Blue Light and the local graffiti removal team were invited to a riverfront barbecue on Tuesday of last week: International Volunteers Day.
