Historic war picture exhibition opening

An exhibition of historic water colour war pictures will be opened in the Murray Bridge Institute from March 16 to the 19th.

The collection includes the official pictures from the Australian War Museum and they bring home in a striking manner the events of the late war.

They embrace many of the important episodes which characterise the fighting on land, sea and in the air, but they do not at all exaggerate any phase of battle or destruction. From an educational point of view everyone should see them, as they are works of art.

Monarto rain storm

The terrible storm of rain, thunder, wind and hail which passed over parts of this district in February, will long be remembered by residents, as it caused one of the biggest floods ever known here.

Tanks and dams were overflowing in a few minutes, and paddocks became a sheet of water. Considerable damage was done, especially to the roads.

The grass greatly benefited by the soaking and if we only get a few more showers, early feed will be assured.

A new shelter shed has been erected at the public school. They also have a tennis court, much to the joy of the children.

Rovers Football Club may join Hills Association

The annual meeting of the Rovers Football Club was held at Leahy's Murray Bridge Hotel on Thursday March 5.

The Secretary (Mr. P. V-. Harford) submitted the annual report, which showed that the club had won the premiership of the Murray Bridge Association and had only lost three matches during the season.

The total income for the year was £56 and the expenditure £47, leaving a balance of £9 in hand.

A letter was received from the Hills Association, asking the club to become affiliated.

After a lengthy discussion it was resolved to forward the letter to the Murray Bridge Football Association, with a recommendation that should the Murray Bridge Association not form this season, the club should join the Hills Association.
