The glories of Anzac

It was ten years ago that Australian and New Zealand troops landed on the shores of Gallipoli—the glorious Anzacs as they have been fittingly termed.

Ten years ago not only Australia, but the whole world was thrilled with the feat of the Anzacs; a feat which is writ imperishably in the history of the British Empire, and will live so long as the English language is spoken.

Both the chairman of the hospital board and the president of the Murray Bridge returned soldiers association made appeals to the public for donations.

Three fugitives caught by Murray Bridge police

Three boys, aged respectively 11, 16, and 18 years, one of whom escaped from the Magill Reformatory, were captured on Monday by the Murray Bridge police.

They had stolen a brown horse, sulky, and harness, seven bundles of rabbit skins, and a grey mare and saddle.

One of the boys was recently returned to the Reformatory on account of his having left his employer at Mypolonga, taking with him a horse and trap.

Murray Bridge vs Mannum: Tennis tournament

More than usual interest was taken in the above tournament, the opening round of which was played on the Mannum Club courts on Saturday last.

During the early afternoon a strong breeze blew across the courts, but died down later, conditions foreplaying being then most pleasant.

In addition to the contestants there were many onlookers present, and all the ties were followed with keen interest.

The ladies provided afternoon tea, for which a small charge was made to help the finances of the club.
