Things to do in Murray Bridge: April 5-11, 2024
Your guide to the Karoonda Farm Fair and Show, Riverbend Nationals, Mypolonga Carp Mania and more.
Several huge events are on in the Murraylands this weekend, from Mypolonga Carp Mania to the Riverbend Nationals at Tailem, but for a good, old-fashioned day out, the Karoonda Farm Fair and Show will be hard to beat.
President Robin Hood said this year’s event would be the biggest and best since COVID-19.
More than 7000 visitors are expected to come and see more than 250 exhibits at the town’s memorial oval on Friday and Saturday, with everyone from agricultural dealers to clothing, homewares, technology, health and finance service providers and government departments, plus food and entertainment.
Other highlights will include a fashion parade run by the Mallee Districts Sporting Club, with a focus on wool garments; a speed shearing championship on the Friday night; and the introduction of rich fruit cake and Genoa cake championships.
“Our whole aim with the farm fair and show is to show what we have in the district, whether it’s wool, whether it’s yard dogs,” he said.
“We’ve embraced the show competitions again, too, so the kids can do craft or cooking.
“That, to me, is the biggest thing.”
Gates will be open from 9am-5pm on both Friday and Saturday, with free entry to a community event on Friday evening.
