Things to do in Murray Bridge: April 23-29, 2021

Anzac Day will be observed at Murray Bridge’s new riverfront war memorial for the first time this Sunday.

Up to 3000 people will be permitted to attend a dawn service – a far cry from last year, when fewer than a dozen gathered at the local RSL branch while police urged everyone else to stay home.

RSL president Rod Harris is urging everyone to arrive around 5.30am on Sunday to allow time for everyone to file through a perimeter fence and check in on their smartphones, in accordance with COVID protocols, ahead a service which will start around 6am.

Regardless of the extra fuss, he said it would be good to be back, particularly at the memorial which opened less than six months ago – and in the year in which the Royal Australian Air Force was celebrating its centenary, too.

Friday
