As students finish up for the year, some graduating and others staying, the annual Barker Shield awards have been given out at Murraylands schools.

The program is intended to acknowledge three top-performing students in each participating school.

It celebrates excellence in three categories: academic achievement, community service and spirit and a third category individually determined by each school.

Recipients at Mannum Community College, Murray Bridge High School and Unity College were:

  • Academic achievement: Eric Fahner, Lucas Bubner and Ryan Nguyen
  • Community service and spirit: Sophie Frahn, Tayla Catanzariti and Reegan Merry
  • Community and sporting achievement: Amber Weber
  • Student leadership: Autumn Stapleton and Tyler Robertson

The students’ positive contributions are honoured through the perpetual Barker Shield, which is displayed at each school.

"As federal Member for Barker, it is a great privilege to be able to formally recognise the valuable contribution of students that are making a difference in their school community and achieving at an eminent level," Mr Pasin said.

"Congratulations to all students for their scholastic and community achievements of 2025, and whether they are continuing study or entering the workforce I wish students from all schools across Barker all the best for 2026."

Awards were also gifted at Meningie, Karoonda, Tintinara and Coomandook Area Schools, as well as other schools across the electorate.
