Pottsy’s Murray Bridge Golf Club report

The quarter finals matchplay for the various men’s grades was played on Saturday.

Last year’s club champion and this year’s top qualifier, Aaron Zrim, dispatched a gallant Keith Durham three to two.

Club president Mark Bolton saw off Tony Carter five to four, and Jeff Morgan birdied the final hole to defeat Andrew Meddle one up.

Glenmore Hattam took Greg Lannan to the 21^st hole (three play-off holes) and emerged victorious in a great encounter.

This Saturday sees Zrim v Morgan and Bolton v Hattam in the semi-finals, and it would be a shock if this didn’t result in a Zrim v Bolton match-up in the final.

River Murray football A-grade results (Round 5)

The days may be getting shorter in SA, but the Southern Mallee Suns don’t mind –they’ve risen to the top of the RMFL ladder and are shining.

After Round 5 of the RMFL 2023 season, the Southern Mallee League top the A-grade ladder with 8 points and 62.32%.

Mypolonga 18.13 (121) defeated Mallee Districts 4.9 (33)

River Murray netball A-grade results (Round 5)

After Round 5 of the RMNA 2023 season on Saturday, the Imps keep their spot on top of the ladder with 10 points and 60.53%.

Mypolonga 51 defeated Mallee Storm 35

Coorong Cats 48 defeated Jervois 46

Southern Suns 46 defeated Ramblers 39

Imperials 52 defeated Mannum 32

Murray Bridge Rifle Club results (29th round)

A superb autumn day with a moderate but mostly consistent left wind set the scene for the 29th round of the Murray Bridge Rifle Club Championship this past Saturday.

The club’s top TR shooters were quick to take advantage of the favourable conditions, with possibles from Robert Paech, Andrew Heard and Greg Traeger.

The trio could barely be separated at the end of the day, with each shooter finishing on 99 points.

Andrew was only slightly behind on centres as Robert and Greg had to be split by a count out, each finishing on 99.12, with the off-rifle honours going to Robert, who finished with two V-Bulls.

Greg received some reward for his performance, claiming the handicap award by three-points.

It was just as close in F-Class, except for Nicole Edwards, who, shooting FTR, was a cut above the rest on the day, scoring a 58 and a 59 to finish on 117.09, four points clear of the field.

Edwards’s effort was also enough to claim the handicap prize by a whopping 10-points.

Gordon Harrison and Adrian Conlon were the next best, scoring 113.06 each to win the F-Standard and F-Open off-rifle prizes respectively.

David McDonald was only a centre behind on 113.05, while Frank Marshall was only a point adrift on 112.01.

There were no “magpies” shot in F-Class, but the TR prize for the most “threes” was a husband-and-wife affair, with Daniel Irvine netting three birds to easily claim the uncoveted award from Jasamine Irvine, who only managed one.

Shooting continues next week with the maximum range of 1000 yards.
