The Murray Bridge Rowing Club has had great success at the Masters and Sprint State Championship at West Lakes on May 2.

Barman can also play golf

Recently appointed Murray Bridge Golf Club barman Nick Williams doesn't just pour a mean beer – he can also wield a golf stick quite handily as well.

Just starting to play a few competition rounds after settling into his new job, the Strathalbyn-based B-grader rattled up a big 40-point score to win Saturday's Stableford competition.

Yes, it was a reduced field due to the club championship quarter finals being played on the same day and the grim weather forecast also kept a few players away, but Williams backed up several promising recent midweek rounds to cash right in this time.

Now on the cusp of A grade after the handicapper has taken the axe to him in response to his terrific form, it will be a challenge for the rage to be maintained, but that's golf.

Massively talented young gun Cohen Naughton remains on fire after another excellent round of 38 points in the tough conditions – he grabbed the runner-up position.

Wind him up and let him loose – robotic A-grader Jeff Morgan eased his way around the course to churn out a rock solid 36 points to come in third for the day.

Packy won the Yabby on the 11th and two eagles were scored, with both being on the short par five 12th hole, with club champion Aaron Zrim putting in one of them and C-grader Angus Diment claiming the other.
