Adelaide’s Kieran Strachan wins Neil Kerley Medal after memorial SANFL match
Adelaide have kicked 10 goals without a blemish after a slow start to claim honours in the SANFL’s inaugural Neil Kerley memorial match by 38 points against West Adelaide in Murray Bridge.
The Bloods booted the opening two majors of the contest before the Crows troubled the scorers, but from there, Michael Godden’s charges applied plenty of scoreboard pressure as Lachlan Gollant continued his fine display of set-shot kicking.
Gollant finished with a match-winning haul of six majors from his 15 disposals and five marks as he calmly nailed his opportunities from a variety of angle and distances at a rain-soaked Johnstone Park.

Mark Bolton comes to the fore on grey day for golf
Murray Bridge Golf Club president and reigning club champion Mark Bolton has shown his class by winning Saturday’s Stableford competition.
In cold, dull, overcast and intermittently showery conditions he shot an excellent 37 points off his three handicap to down the 63-strong field.
His stunning 22-point back nine equated to a two-under-the-card 32 off the stick and deservedly won him the day’s pro comp.
The greens remained fast despite the conditions making them a challenge for all concerned.
Quality A-grader Greg Lannan had a handy day in winning the A grade with 35 points; he also snared nearest the pins on the 11th and 14th holes as well as claiming the yabbie on the 11th.

Kapunda beats Murray Bridge, retains Excel Shield
On Saturday 12th August, a handful of members from the Murray Bridge Rifle Club made the trek through the scenic Barossa Valley to Kapunda to compete in the interclub Excel Shield.
The weather was questionable at times, but while cold, the shoot was able to be completed with only a single short interruption because of rain.
Wind, however, was another matter, as the Kapunda range’s positioning amongst a collection of hills and gullies made for some challenging wind reading conditions.
From Murray Bridge, the standout shooters were Greg Traeger in Target Rifle scoring a 95.09, including a 49.05 in his first round, and Gordon Harrison in F-Class, with 111.04 for the day.
