Soroptimists invite year 12s to apply for $2000 scholarship
A Murray Bridge service club will give a cheque to a local student starting university in 2021.
Between formal cancellations, course fee changes and job uncertainty, the class of 2020 has been through quite enough this year.
A local service club hopes to help one local year 12 student forget all about those problems next year.
Applications are now open for a $2000 cash scholarship being offered by Soroptimist International Murray Bridge.
There are only two requirements.
Applicants must:
- be completing  year 12 in 2020 at Murray Bridge High School, Unity College, Tyndale Christian School, Mannum Community College, Karoonda Area School or Coomandook Area School
- have applied, or be in the process of applying, for tertiary study in 2021
Applicants will be judged on their academic achievement, personal qualities and community involvement.
Each applicant will be interviewed in January, and a cheque given to the scholarship recipient in March.
The Soroptimists have given scholarships to 31 local high school graduates since 1991.
This year’s recipient was Mannum’s Mitchell Heward, pictured with Soroptimist Carol Bath.
