Rockleigh’s beloved Carols in the Bush has finally returned for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several hundred people congregated in a paddock beside the Uniting Church on Sunday evening to celebrate Christmas beneath the gum trees.
The SA Police Band starred alongside local performers including Murray Bridge Children’s Choir and a company of bell-ringers.
Children played in the hills as their parents and grandparents sang along to all the classics.
A highlight of the evening was a collection for Cops for Kids and the Royal Flying Doctor Service which raised $2100.
Food and drink sales raised still more for Rockleigh’s Country Fire Service brigade and progress association.
Rockleigh’s carols event was last held in 2019.
Organisers had planned to bring it back last year, but had to cancel at the last minute due to a stormy weather forecast.
