Lego lovers young and old have congregated at Murray Bridge High School over the weekend for the inaugural Bridge Bricks Expo.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Mobilong as a fundraiser for its community projects, the event brought together master builders and up-and-comers under one roof.

One of the stars of the show was a scale model of Adelaide’s central business district by Connor Brennan, complete with a Showdown being played at Adelaide Oval, the Fringe in the east end and Supercars at Victoria Park.

The big screen at the oval – or tiny screen, in this case – was even showing a real video of a footy match.

The model had been the product of five years of part-time labour, its builder said, designed in a computer program which was then able to order the thousands of pieces he had needed.

But the dinosaurs, zoo animals, cars and castles built by the locals were no less impressive, of course.

Rotarian Bronwyn Heard said community members had already expressed a strong interest in repeating the event, and making it bigger and better, next year.
