So … You’re Divorced: Murray Bridge cabaret will explore heartbreak and healing
Local singer and songwriter Katherine Wicker and a five-piece band will present two evenings of favourite songs old and new this August.

A cabaret by a new local production company will feature songs about heartbreak, healing and learning to love again at Murray Bridge’s Bridgeport Hotel this August.
Jakall Productions is the brainchild of Murraylands musicians and songwriters Katherine Wicker and Jenna Matulick, the creative team behind 2021 musical I’m Fine.
Their upcoming cabaret, So … You’re Divorced, reflects on Wicker’s journey through one of the hardest periods of her life: becoming a divorcee by the age of 30.
But don’t expect a downer of an evening.
This show is about empowerment, and rediscovering a new version of yourself.
“It’s for anyone who’s gone through the break-up of a relationship and asked themselves who they are when they’re not part of a duo,” Wicker says.
“It covers topics like breaking up, dating as an adult, and the anxiety that comes with dating again after not doing it for so long.
“It reaches the conclusion that – spoilers – before loving anyone else, you have to learn to love yourself.”

A five-piece band has spent the past several months rehearsing 12 songs for the show, including favourites from the likes of Missy Higgins and The Greatest Showman as well as two original compositions.
Included in the ensemble are three Murraylands locals: Wicker, Matulick and Rebecca Byrnes.
Having others reassure her that her story is one worth telling has been an empowering experience, Wicker says.
Now she hopes others can benefit from sharing it.
“If just one person comes to this show and relates to it, it will have been worth it for me,” she says.
So: book your tickets and get ready to eat, drink and sing your way through the heartbreak and into a brighter future.
“For anyone who feels alone: I see you, and it gets better,” Wicker says.
So … You’re Divorced will be performed at the Bridgeport Hotel, Murray Bridge on August 7 and 8, with support from the Rural City of Murray Bridge and RP Cutters.
