The blokes at this Murray Bridge tyre shop are proud to wear pink for a good cause.

Krystal Hatswell – the rose among the thorns at Smedley Tyre Service – inspired the whole team to dress in pink on Friday to draw attention to fundraising efforts for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

It’s a cause close to her heart.

She lost her nana, Lorraine Schultz, to breast cancer; and a friend her own age, a mum of three, just last month.

Her neighbour is a breast cancer survivor.

“It hits a bit close sometimes,” she said.

Ms Hatswell has worn pink every day during June for the fundraiser.

It had been easy to convince the boys to join in, she said: “(They) all say the breast is their favourite part.”

To date, the team’s efforts have raised almost $1000 for the cause, and they hoped to go even higher by Monday night.

More than 21,000 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 3300 die from the disease, every year.

Funds raised will go towards research into new treatment options, with the goal of reducing the number of breast cancer deaths in Australia to zero.

“If you can, please support my pink-powered mission by donating,” she said.

“There's still time.”

“Every dollar brings us closer to better treatments, earlier detection and, one day, a cure.”
