Signs of success: the local company giving the Murraylands a fresh look

This sponsored post is brought to you by Sign Designs 4U.

If you’ve noticed any attractive-looking signage appear on a shop-front, vehicle or banner in Murray Bridge in the past few years, this is probably where it came from.

Sign Designs 4U are your local signage and graphic design experts, able to take your idea from concept through printing to execution in almost any format.

Whether it’s putting your name and colours on your business' front wall, printing a decal for your home or office, a wrap for your car, a light box up high or a 1.5-metre social distancing sticker on the floor, Sign Designs 4U can make it a reality.

The transformation of Bridge Street’s former newsagency into a colourful, welcoming community centre for AC Care, pictured?

That was them.

The cars out on the street for radio station 5MU, pictured below?

That was them, too.

The photo decals on empty shops in the main street, the front of Murray Computers, Spry Civil Construction’s re-branded machinery, the internal signage at the Rydges Pit Lane Hotel and Fuel Restaurant and Bar – each was delivered by the local company, which also counts McCue’s Bakery and Riverscape Food and Wine among its upcoming clients.

The AC Care job is one that gives workshop manager Nathan Gates the most pride.

“We designed everything but the Aboriginal artwork, which was provided by a local Aboriginal artist,” he says.

“We printed it all in-house and installed all of it ourselves.

“It’s something that makes you stand back, look and go ‘that looks great’.”

Despite their uncompromising focus on quality, Sign Designs 4U can get jobs done incredibly quickly when required.

At four o’clock on a recent Friday, a client in Melbourne rang and said they needed signs up at Tailem Bend.

Sign Designs 4U had them printed, delivered and fixed in place an hour and a half later.

“We listen to our clients, come up with ideas for them and modify them according to their feedback,” Nathan says.

“Our ‘us for you’ philosophy, our customer service, is what keeps our customers coming back.”

Experienced team explores new possibilities

Business owner Steve Burgess first ventured into signage about 15 years ago, and eventually gained a big enough client base to warrant launching Sign Designs 4U as an independent business.

One sign of his success has been his recruitment of Phillipa Ross, who had previously operated her own graphic design business for almost 30 years.

Another revelation has been the many applications for decals and similar products outside the business world – for example, to freshen up an old home or give new life to a space.

“We’ve done Thomas the Tank Engines in bedrooms for kids, height charts, all sorts,” Steve says.

“I’ve seen images in offices of rainforests, to give the feeling staff are not just in a stale old room – it has an impact on people’s wellbeing.”

Lately, of course, stickers on floors have also become commonplace as businesses promote social distancing between their customers.

Steve wonders if they will stick around, so to speak, even after the pandemic passes.

“If you see something on the floor, your eyes go straight to it,” he suggests.

“It’s more effective than wall stuff sometimes because you’re looking where you’re going.”

Still, he expects many businesses are thinking about informational signage they will need as they reopen this month – and he’s ready to help.
