Firefighters have extinguished a shed fire in Murray Bridge which prompted a warning about smoke on Thursday morning.

A series of explosions were reported in a shed on Albert Terrace just before 5.30am on Thursday.

Six MFS and CFS crews found the shed burning fiercely when they arrived.

They were able to bring the fire under control within half an hour, using breathing apparatus to get inside.

However, the Metropolitan Fire Service still issued a warning about smoke drifting across town, residents to close their windows and doors.

The fire itself did not affect surrounding properties.
