16mm in 20 minutes: Murray Bridge records its second-wettest day for 2022
A November storm has dumped a heap of rain on the rural city.
If you’re feeling a bit soggy after the weekend, don’t be surprised.
Saturday was Murray Bridge’s second-wettest day this year, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Storm drains were overwhelmed and streets turned into water hazards during the afternoon as a storm dumped 16 millimetres of rain on the area in just 20 minutes.
Murray Bridge’s State Emergency Service brigade received 11 calls for help over an eight-hour period, including from a home on Silver Birch Drive whose back verandah had collapsed.
Seven more Murray Bridge residents, and one at Callington, reported that their properties had been flooded.
A tree was also reported to have fallen across Placid Estates Road at Wellington East.
