SALA Festival 2026: Your Murraylands exhibition guide
From Kanmantoo to Karoonda, Mannum to Wellington, here’s what you’ll find in our backyard during this year’s South Australian Living Artists Festival.

Nine exhibitions and events will be staged around the Murraylands over the next month as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival.
The annual festival, founded in 1998, celebrates creative types from across the state whose produce art of all kinds.
This year, more than 10,000 artists will participate at more than 700 venues.
Here are some of the experiences you can seek out around our region.
Community Art and Heirlooms
August 1-2 at Jervois Hall
An eclectic collection of art and heirloom crafts presented from artisans across four local communities, including Jervois Primary School students.

Gestures of Care
August 1-30 at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery
A multimedia exhibition including ink painting installation, textiles, ceramics, animated film, collage, lino prints and cardboard sculptures, the result of a three-year creative research collaboration between Family-by-Family participants, the Art Bus artists and anthropologists from the School of Social Sciences, Adelaide University, in partnership with Uniting Communities and the Australian Centre for Social Innovation. Workshops will be held at 11.30am on August 2 and 2pm on August 9.

After the Harvest
August 1-31 at Karoonda Silo Art
Digital projections of artwork about what happens once the work is done will light up the Karoonda main street silos.

Backwaters
August 1-31 at 14 Second Street, Murray Bridge
A collection of prints by Kathryn Hannaford which use analogue and alternative photography processes to capture the Murray River’s backwaters.

Food for the Soul
August 1-31 at Foodland Mannum
Foodland will partner with the SALA Festival for a unique, in-store exhibition of South Australian art.

Luminescence
August 1-31 at Arnold Dock Gallery, Mannum
A collective student exhibition that will enthrall the senses and bring light to the dark.

Resonance
August 2-30 at Britannia, Kanmantoo
Five hills artisans create mixed media diversity: repurposed textiles, basketry, weaving and painting with resonance. A free opening event and artist demonstration will be held at 4pm on August 2.

Artistic Intelligence
August 7-17 at Murray Bridge Marketplace
An eclectic mix of art works by local artists of various disciplines and expertise from Bridge Arts. An opening event will be held at 5pm on August 7.

Australia: Land of Contrasts
August 22-23 at Leanne McCulloch Art Studio and Gallery, Wellington
Leanne McCulloch’s exhibition this year is all about Australia: our breathtaking scenery, flora and fauna, with colourful twists.
