Eleven exhibitions will open around the Murraylands this month for the 2025 SALA Festival, a celebration of South Australia’s living artists.

From sculpture by an international heavyweight to works by children in schools around our region, there’ll be something to tickle every artistic fancy over the next few weeks.

A Celebration of Small Scale

August 9-21 at Leanne McCulloch Art Creative Studio and Gallery, Wellington

As an artist and creator who usually paints on a large scale, McCulloch pushes herself outside of her comfort zone for this exhibition by creating small-scale works.

Art Attak

August 8-16 at Murray Bridge Marketplace

An eclectic group of artists showcase a wide variety of art mediums. Opening event: 5pm on August 8.

Art in the Park

10am on August 10 at Tailem Bend Playground

An airbrush and aerosol art workshop for beginners aged 14-18; the two-hour workshop is $65 per participant, includes free refreshments and you get to take home your completed art piece.

A vibrant celebration of diverse artists, limitless creativity and unrestrained artistic expression across all mediums.

Colour that makes your heart sing

August 1-31 at Revival Retreat Artworks and Framing, Tailem Bend

An exploration of colour, texture and composition from a collection of local Murray Mallee artists to form an exhibition to make your heart sing.

An eclectic collection of art and heirloom crafts presented from artisans across four local communities, and including Jervois Primary School students.

Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards

The Australian Migrant Resource Centre invites young people to participate in the SA Refugee Week Youth Poster Awards Exhibition, which celebrates the courage, resilience, strength and contributions of people of refugee backgrounds.

Rising from the Overflow: Portraits and stories from the women of the Lower Murray Reclaimed Irrigation Area

August 9-September 7 at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery

Rise from the Overflow spotlights the voices of six LMRIA women, with large-scale photographs and biographical video works, a wonderful public program opportunity and an accompanying booklet of their stories. Opening event at 1pm on August 24.
