Resthaven residents will remember Anzac Day 2021

The Royal South Australia Regiment Association is a group of former soldiers who served within the battalions of the Royal South Australia Regiment.

They range in age from 90 down to 18 years, the age of the youngest serving member of the 10th/27th Battalion RSAR.

The RSAR Association provides support to the current serving battalion, the 10th/27th Battalion, by way of awards and presentations to high-achieving soldiers, ongoing maintenance of battalion honour boards, providing catering support for battalion exercises and the purchase and maintenance of musical instruments for the band of the 10th/27th Battalion.

Readers may recall three concerts held in Murray Bridge featuring the band in 2015, 2017 and 2018 which were supported by the Murray Bridge RSL.

As a fundraiser this year, the RSAR Association has commissioned the manufacture of “lest we forget” posters for people to display on their driveways and fences to show their allegiance to the fallen.

When assocation secretary David Laing approached federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin to purchase a sign for $25, Mr Pasin promptly paid for 10 signs, asking that they be distributed to people of Murray Bridge who either could not afford a sign, or who wished to commemorate Anzac Day in that way.

Mr Laing took the remaining signs to the Resthaven nursing home and presented them to assistant manager Kimberley Lord and veteran client Peter Smith OAM, who will in turn gift them to veterans who call Resthaven their home.
