Pub rock exhibition will launch with music quiz night
Murray Bridge Regional Gallery will host an event like no other this Friday.
Who’s that in the photo above?
If you know the answer, you might do well at a music quiz night at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery this Friday night.
Fun and games, giveaways and prizes will be on offer at the gallery to celebrate Pub Rock, an exhibition visiting from the National Portrait Gallery.
Almost 80 photographs by leading industry photographers capture the people, places and energy of Australian music, on stage, backstage and in the studio.
Featured are 1960s pioneers the Easybeats, Little Pattie and Johnny O’Keefe; Adelaide rock heroes Cold Chisel, AC/DC and the Angels; international successes INXS, Nick Cave, the Bee Gees and the Divinyls; activists such as Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly and Us Mob; and many more.
Meanwhile, the likes of Monarto Safari Park, the Bridgeport Hotel, Woodlane Orchard, Willow Point Wines and more have donated prizes for the quiz night.
A best-dressed prize will be on offer for someone who goes as their favourite pub rock icon.
Doors will open at 6pm for a 6.30 start.
The exhibition will open to the public on Saturday.
Oh – and it was Jimmy Barnes at the Coogee Bay Hotel in 1984, by the way.
