Proud, prosperous and environmentally friendly – that's your vision for the Coorong district
Suggestions from more than 250 residents have been compiled into a draft council plan for the next four years.
Proud, diverse communities, a prosperous economy and a valued environment – that is the future locals envision for the Coorong district, according to a draft plan published last week.
The community vision plan will guide the Coorong District Council between now and 2025, based on the advice of more than 250 residents who had their say at a series of workshops late last year.
That feedback has been broken down into 67 broad-brush priorities under the headings of the economy, the community, the environment, infrastructure and leadership.
They include things like “undertake a consistent approach to weed control”, “improve council’s footpath network”, “act with integrity and accountability”, “establish a youth advisory forum” and “develop an investment prospectus”.
The draft plan also proposes a slogan for the district: “room to move, room to work and room to play”.
The council is now seeking feedback before councillors finalise the plan at a meeting on February 23.
