If you see smoke southwest of Murray Bridge this Thursday or Friday, this will likely be the reason.

The state Department for Environment and Water plans to burn off an area of 31 hectares at Ferries McDonald Conservation Park, at Monarto South.

The prescribed burn will reduce the fuel load available in the area, limiting the risk of future bushfires.

Aircraft will be used to light and control the fire.

Flames and smoke may be visible after 6.30pm on Thursday and for several days afterwards.

The burn will only go ahead if weather conditions permit.
