An application to build more than 80 houses at Tailem Bend has been filed with the Coorong council.

The company attached to the application is Asset Point Proprietary Limited, a property investment group.

The plot of land is on Jacob Street, a short distance from the bowling club, though its address is given as Stanley Street.

According to the plan, the lot would be subdivided over five stages of development.

It’s not the only housing development in the early stages of planning at Tailem, either.

Back in March, a company called Clandene Pty Ltd filed a plan to create another 20 rural living blocks on nearby Racecourse Road, off Ross Road.

Both developments will be assessed by the Coorong council, which is also planning its own 20-lot development at the former tennis club on Tenth Street.

The developments come against the background of a council prediction that Tailem Bend’s population will triple in the coming decades, mirroring similar trends in Murray Bridge.
