A phone’s GPS tracker has helped police find and arrest an alleged burglar in Murray Bridge.

Around 1.20pm on Sunday, someone entered a home on Jarvis Avenue though an unlocked front door and stole various items, including the mobile phone.

The home’s occupants were in the backyard at the time and did not notice until they came back inside.

However, because they had enabled GPS tracking on the phone, they were able to trace it to a nearby location: Hume Reserve.

Police went there, arrested a 45-year-old man of no fixed address and charged him with theft and serious criminal trespassing.

He remained in custody at least until a court hearing on Monday.
