Police have arrested a Woods Point man who allegedly fired a gun during an argument with a neighbour on Thursday night.

Officers went out to a Jervois Road property at 11.40pm after a gunshot was reported.

They arrested a 70-year-old man and charged him with making unlawful threats, discharging a firearm and failing to store ammunition correctly.

However, they said the man never pointed a gun directly at anyone, and that there was no threat to the wider public.

The man spent the night in a police cell before being granted bail at a hearing at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Friday.

He will return to court to face the charges at a later date.

Police seized any guns and ammunition they found at the man’s property.
