The Tailem Bend-Jervois ferry has returned to service, the state Department for Infrastructure and Transport has announced.

Just after 11.30am on Monday, the department announced that the ferry would be out of action “due to works”, effective immediately.

However, a DIT spokesman told Murray Bridge News the repairs would take “hours, not days”.

Sure enough, the ferry reopened just after 2pm.

The department thanked motorists for their patience.
