June 28 was a pruning day at Trevor and Deirdre Kitto’s garden.

Nineteen people attended to witness fruit trees being pruned by orchardist Allen Hagger from Woodlane.

The group then inspected the compost bins with opening gates and the mulching area for all garden cuttings.

Next the group watched the pruning of roses and fertilizing with Sudden Impact.

Many questions were asked, and extra advice taken.

Members finished with a morning tea by a log fire and a presentation to Mr Hagger.

On July 5, 37 members attended another garden club gathering and six new members were also welcomed.

The guest speaker was Chris Thompson from St John Ambulance, who gave a thorough demonstration of how to use a defibrillator and then spoke about how important it was to know what to do in an emergency.

This knowledge may save someone’s life.

Bruno Lablack then gave a gift and a vote of thanks.

The group’s next annual general meeting is to be held on Friday, August 2 at 9.45am.

Anybody and everybody is welcome to join in on good fun, good gardening and good fellowship.
