Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital has closed temporarily to visitors due to a confirmed outbreak of COVID-19.

The closure, which came into immediate effect on Tuesday afternoon, was a result of six patients testing positive.

Although visitors are not permitted to enter the hospital, the emergency department will still operate during this time.

Limited visitation will also continue for palliative care and maternity patients on compassionate grounds.

The Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network said it would constantly review the situation and reconsider restrictions as it evolved.
