Hi there – my name is Viki Ntafillis and I’m the new journalist at Murray Bridge News.

I am currently studying a double degree of law and journalism at the University of South Australia, and am in my final year.

My particular interests in journalism are current affairs, human interest, history and food.

Before entering uni, I was strongly considering a degree in health.

However, when I walked out of my year 12 English Studies exam depressed that I’d never have the opportunity to write like that again, I knew some soul-searching had to be done.

I have always been passionate about words in all forms, finding out what makes people tick, and advocating for those without a voice or who have a story to tell, so journalism seemed like a natural fit.

Adding on the law degree seemed like a great way to enhance my problem solving, communication and comprehension skills.

Outside of journalism, I love reading – surprise, surprise – baking, catching up with family and friends and bingeing Netflix’s latest and greatest.

Also of note, I have watched the TV show Friends so many times that I know the characters’ lives better than my own.

Having grown up in a large Greek family, I am all about community, traditions and supporting one another.

I also believe our stories can form an important part of our identity.

Therefore I’m especially keen to hear about all your stories, to show Murray Bridge locals all the positive things happening in the community every day.

I’ll be working at Murray Bridge News on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to start with.

On that note, if you have a story you think others might want to hear, feel free to email me at viki@murraybridge.news.
