When you’re selling a property, you want to know your real estate agent is the best in the business.

Luckily, one agency in the Murraylands fits the bill.

Raine and Horne Murraylands won a national marketing excellence award in August, beating more than 300 agencies around Australia, after having already been named the best in South Australia.

Senior sales consultant Michael Cox was named fourth among the company’s 3000 agents nationwide by number of properties sold.

James Trimble, general manager of Raine and Horne in South Australia, said both awards were a big deal, and that he was very proud.

“They ran away with it this year,” he said.

“Rather than just doing a stock-standard ad in the paper, they’ve started to do some creative things with social media and video.

“I say to our other offices now, ‘take a look at what these guys are doing, copy that’.”

What do Raine and Horne Murraylands do differently?

Principal John DeMichele, marketing manager Emily DeMichele and the team try to make sure the properties they sell are seen by everyone in the Murraylands.

Channels they use to reach local buyers include:

Senior property consultant Michael Cox said a partnership with technology firm CCT, which offered a machine-learning-based social media marketing tool called Amplify, had been a game-changer for Raine and Horne nationally.

Another tool, Digikit, allowed agents to produce high-quality reports on any property, complete with the latest local market statistics, quickly and easily.

At a local level, Raine and Horne Murraylands’ decision to employ a dedicated marketing manager had propelled the agency ahead of its competitors.

“We’ve got a strong sales support team to complement Casey (DeMichele), John and I,” Michael said.

“We have made a conscious effort to make sure we can cover every kind of clientele, from first home buyers to retirees and everyone in between.”

Yet despite all the bells and whistles, the team had never lost sight of the importance of personal relationships, he said – “it’s still good to have that face-to-face conversation”.

Local agent named among the top four in Australia

If anyone should know about this stuff, it’s Michael, the number-four Raine and Horne agent in Australia by quantity of sales.

Not bad for a former pro golfer who had never thought about real estate before John tapped him on the shoulder.

Michael quickly discovered a love for meeting new clients and getting the best deal for them, whether that meant the best possible price or the quickest possible sale.

“Every client has specific needs, and we work hard to achieve their goals,” he said.
