Life Through the Lens: Sharing like a cockatoo

Kevin Schrapel wonders about what riches we can share.

Life Through the Lens: Sharing like a cockatoo

Could we share like cockatoos? Photo: Ben George/Unsplash

With a ruffle, of wings he arrived in the walnut tree, clutched a nut in his claws, gave a short and raised his crest.

Suddenly from out of nowhere his mates arrived and there was a tree full of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos enjoying a feast.

It so much appeared as if the first “fly-in” had found something of value and was more than happy and eager to share his treasure.

How eager are we to share the “treasures” Jesus shares with us?

Treasures like love, joy, peace and especially forgiveness?

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Of course, to share what I believe is “life-changing”, I must actually recognise and believe that what I have, can truly be “life-changing”.

Believe it and share it, with words and actions.

How do I show I have something to share that I believe is worth sharing?

Do I endlessly talk about how wonderful this “treasure” is that I found?

Then again, did I find it or did someone else share with me what they had found?

Did they share in a way that made it so real, I too wanted some of what they had?

Will I share in a way that others will also want some of what I have?

Jesus was very good at sharing what he knew people, you and I need.

He talked about it.

He said things like, “Trust me! I have come so you can have a full life!”

He shared where he got the “treasure” from.

“My Father (God) and I are one. He has shown me everything, My Father has given me everything”.

And he wants you and me to share in those blessings.

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38 – 40)

Jesus is telling us “I have shared with you, I have taught you, now share that knowledge, faith, love,  joy and teach what you have learnt. Teach and share by word and action.”

Read about for yourself how Jesus shared in the Bible books.

Either of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John.

Or preferably all four books.

God bless,
