It’s Reedy Creek Road, not Speedy Creek Road: driver nabbed on way to Palmer

A driver from Adelaide has allegedly been caught driving at 172 kilometres per hour on the Murray Bridge to Palmer road.

Police stopped a red ute on Reedy Creek Road just after midnight on Friday after they allegedly spotted it travelling at 72km/h over the limit.

They fined its driver, a 58-year-old Paralowie man, $1750, and disqualified him from driving for six months.

Wharf Hill gardens damaged

Police are appealing for information about damage to the gardens on Wharf Hill, opposite the Bridgeport Hotel, in Murray Bridge.

Someone pulled up plants and irrigation in the gardens last weekend, sometime after 5pm on Friday, July 3, and before 8.30am on the following Monday.

The $2000 bill to repair the damage will come out of ratepayers’ pockets via the Murray Bridge council.

Anyone with information about what happened should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.

Heated dispute leads to arrest

A 40-year-old Murray Bridge woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a heater from a backyard on Best Street.

Police were called to the scene around 8.45pm on Wednesday and given a description of the alleged thief.

They soon spotted her a short distance away.

Officers charged her with unlawfully being on a premises, theft and resisting arrest, but granted her bail ahead of an appearance at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on August 3.
