Former Cub Scout leader Ruth Jenkins dies

A much-loved member of Murray Bridge's Scouting community, and a long-time ceramics teacher, has died.

The family of Ruth Jenkins is in mourning after the former Cub Scout leader’s death last week.

Ms Jenkins spent 40 years as the Akela, or cub leader, of the 2nd Murray Bridge Scout Group.

She was also well known for the 25 years she spent teaching ceramics in the community.

She died at St Anna’s Nursing Home, Brompton on February 17, at the age of 83.

Her funeral was held at Minge Funerals’ chapel on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge on Wednesday, March 2.
