A man believed to have been a local has died in a road crash at Mypolonga.

Around 9.15pm on Wednesday night, police received a call about a car which had collided with a tree and burst into flames on South Bokara Road.

The car’s driver died at the scene.

His identity had not yet been confirmed on Thursday morning, but police believed him to be a 78-year-old local man.

The road was closed between Kellett Road and Hill Road while major crash investigators attended the scene.

The man’s death was the 74th on South Australian roads this year.
