Out-Back Portable Buildings design and manufacture high-quality, affordable and customised portable rooms, buildings, granny flats and offices.

Whilst the company has been in business for almost three years, they recently expanded to Murray Bridge.

In their first month, they have increased their workforce, employing an additional four workers from the local community, as well as connecting with local businesses and farmers.

Luke Angel, managing director, started the company with former mining colleague Marcus Rayner, operations director.

“We put a hyphen in the name because our products are for the outback, but they are also for out the back of people’s homes and properties,” Mr Angel said.

In addition, he explained why Out-Back Portable Buildings trump the opposition.

“Our buildings are energy efficient, with top quality finishes, and no other buildings can match our standards and affordability.”

Their pride in building attractive and energy-efficient buildings has led to the company becoming a finalist in this year’s Sustainability category of the Telstra Small Business Awards.

Mr Angel also pointed out that Out-Back Portable Buildings are a possible solution to the housing crisis and can provide emergency accommodation for those affected by the floods.

In addition, giving back to the community is important to the company.

“We’re here for the long haul, and we want to be a useful part of the community,” Mr Angel said.

“This is shown by our commitment to employing an inclusive workforce, which includes several Indigenous and disabled people.

“I don’t want to be in business if we’re not getting some food for the soul.”
