The new One Nation candidate for Barker, Cody Scholes has paid a visit to Murray Bridge to share his vision for this year's federal election.
As a Mount Gambier local, former paramedic and pressure washing business owner, Mr Scholes thought it was time for him to step up.
He will be the officially endorsed candidate for the seat of Barker for Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party.
Mr Scholes said his visit to Murray Bridge had been fantastic, with many attendees and lots of volunteers signing up to help.
"There was lots of enthusiasm and passion for change," he told Murray Bridge News.
"I can't wait to be back."
He will be up against Liberal candidate Tony Pasin, who has been the Member for Barker since 2013.
Mr Scholes said the electorate needed a representative who could stand up for it in the federal parliament, and whose only interest was to advance our interests.
"For years we have seen the neglect of this electorate in terms of roads, in terms of health, in terms of housing and infrastructure and farming," he said.
The Barker electorate would have to be attractive for investors to come and invest in the state as well as industry to set up their farms, establish wineries and plantations, he said.
"It is about attracting businesses which are going to grow infrastructure and benefit the entire community."
The date of the election is still to be announced, but is likely to be in or before this May.
