Old Murray Bridge will close for five nights next week
Boat movements will also be restricted as the next stage of work begins on the road bridge over the River Murray.
The old Murray Bridge will close between 7pm and 6am on five nights next week as refurbishment works continue.
The road bridge will shut on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings – the nights of March 6-10 – to allow its arches to be painted.
The closure will affect access to events including a presentation by former Wiggle Greg Page, at the RSL on Tuesday, and a speedway race meet next Friday.
As usual, detours during that time will be via the Swanport Bridge on the South Eastern Freeway.
Big changes are about to come beneath the bridge, too.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport will begin to erect scaffolding beneath the part of the bridge which spans the River Murray this week.
As a result, boat movements beneath the bridge will be restricted to a marked navigation channel until the end of August.
DIT strongly encouraged boat users to use caution and observe navigational markers if they planned to pass through the area.
A $46 million refurbishment of the bridge has been underway since last May.
