Nominations now open for Barker Volunteer Awards
Volunteers who play an important role in our community all deserve recognition for the part they play.
Nominations are now open for a volunteer awards program run by federal MP Tony Pasin.
The Member for Barker said that as he visited communities across the electorate, he was reminded of the massive contribution volunteers made.
“From the local men’s shed, sporting club or CFS, it is the unpaid work of volunteers that keeps these organisations running and serving the wider community,” he said.
“Volunteers really are the heart of communities across Barker and they deserve recognition for the time, skills and passion they exercise to help make our local communities great places to live, work and raise a family.”
The Barker Volunteer Awards were a small way of acknowledging and thanking those who went above and beyond, he said.
Nominations will close on May 10.
Winners will be recognised during National Volunteer Week, celebrated nationally from May 20-26.
Each year the week-long event highlights the important role volunteers play in our community and encourages those not currently volunteering to give it a go.
Nominate anyone who helps keep your organisation up and running: a president, secretary, treasurer, first responder, coach, umpire, scorer or even canteen coordinator.
