Ettrick man charged with weapons offences after police raid
Plus a Murray Bridge woman is reported for high-range drink driving, police warn about thefts from cars and a man is arrested for an intervention order breach.
Police have charged a man with weapons offences after a raid at an Ettrick property on Monday.
Officers who descended on the property at Burbidge Road allegedly found:
- A .177 calibre air handgun and two tubs of pellets
- Two extendable batons
- A set of knuckle dusters
- 11 prohibited knives
They returned to arrest the 41-year-old man the next day, charging him with breaching a prohibition order, possessing an unregistered firearm without a licence, possessing prohibited weapons and breaching bail.
He was denied bail this time around, and will remain in custody ahead of a court appearance in Murray Bridge on May 9.
Murray Bridge woman reported for drink driving after allegedly blowing 0.287
Meanwhile, a Murray Bridge woman who was allegedly almost six times over the legal blood alcohol limit has been reported for drink driving.
Around 11.40pm on Saturday, police received a call about a white Toyota SUV that had been seen driving erratically on Adelaide Road.
They found and stopped the vehicle and breath-tested its driver, a 59-year-old local woman.
She allegedly blew 0.287.
Police had already caught three other Murray Bridge men allegedly drink driving in the past fortnight:
- A 62-year-old driving a Ford Falcon on Commerce Road at 2.50am on February 18; he allegedly blew 0.167
- A 54-year-old driving a Peugeot on South Terrace at 9.40pm the same night; he allegedly blew 0.084
- A 27-year-old driving on Swanport Road at 1.40am on Saturday; he allegedly blew 0.15
Each of the three drivers was disqualified from driving on the spot; the woman also had her car impounded.
Don’t leave valuables in parked cars
Murray Mallee police have issued a warning about thefts from vehicles after a recent spike in the region.
They advised everyone to:
- Lock doors and close windows when a vehicle is not in use
- Install a car alarm or immobiliser
- Remove valuables from vehicles
- Park off the road or in a locked garage
- Keep keys in a safe place – not in the vehicle
Five thefts from vehicles were reported in Murray Bridge in December, and one at Tailem Bend; statistics for January and February had not yet been released at the time of publication.
Man arrested for breaching intervention order
Finally, police have arrested a 39-year-old Murray Mallee man who allegedly breached an intervention order and failed to comply with his reporting obligations.
Detectives from SA Police’s public protection branch made the arrest on February 15.
The man was granted bail ahead of a court appearance in Adelaide on May 20.
