SA Health will hold a three-day international conference in Murray Bridge later this year.
The Rural Health International Place-based Education and Research Conference will run from October 29-31, and will bring together clinicians and researchers from around the world to discuss rural and remote healthcare.
Local health network CEO Wayne Champion said he was delighted that the inaugural conference would be held in Murray Bridge.
“As Murray Bridge is a key regional centre in South Australia’s Riverland Mallee Coorong region, the RHIPER conference offers an ideal setting to showcase local healthcare innovations in education and research,” he said.
SA Health’s Riverland Academy of Clinical Excellence will host the conference, which will feature research presentations, interactive discussions, and a dedicated policy workshop for attendees.
The event will also feature guest speakers including:
- Professor Sonia Kumar from St Mary's University in London
- National Rural Health Commissioner Professor Jenny May AM
- Regional Education Commissioner Fiona Nash

Amy Mendham, a senior researcher at the academy, said she was excited for the opportunities that the conference would provide for locally driven research and innovation around rural health policy directions.
“This event will also help foster collaboration and informed policy dialogue between clinicians, researchers, educators and policy leaders,” she said.
