Murray Bridge Technical College concept plans revealed
The state government has published its design for a $50 million training centre which will sit alongside Murray Bridge High School.

Community members have been given a first glance at the state government’s plans for a $50 million technical college in Murray Bridge.
A public consultation period has opened on the design for the college, which will co-located alongside Murray Bridge High School.
The large, two-storey building will sit behind a pedestrian crossing on Swanport Road, across the oval from the rest of the high school’s facilities, with direct access from the main road.
It will have capacity for up to 250 students in years 10-12, who will be trained in engineering, construction and other in-demand occupations.
Twenty-five staff will be employed there.
The development will also include overnight “crash pad” accommodation for up to 24 students and three staff, recognising that some are likely to travel from across the Mallee to study there.
The college – the result of a state government election promise – will open at the start of the 2028 school year, catering to students who are currently in years 8-10.
The difference between it and the Lower Murray Trade Training Centre, which is also located at the high school, is that courses will be designed in consultation with local employers and graduates will be guaranteed a job at the end of their training.
The state government has built five similar technical collages across South Australia over the past five years: three in Adelaide, one at Port Augusta and one in Mount Gambier.
“Students at South Australia’s technical colleges are building life-changing skills for their future careers,” Education, Training and Skills Minister Lucy Hood said last month.
“Providing hands-on learning and guaranteed job pathways in priority areas helps young people seamlessly transition into the workforce and contribute to our state’s economic growth.”
Applications for places at the Murray Bridge college are likely to open in May of next year.
In the meantime, members of the public can view the proposed design and have their say between now and October 16.
