Murray Bridge students win awards in Lions International Peace Poster Contest
Students from Tyndale and Murray Bridge High have won awards in the first stage of the design competition.
Two Murray Bridge students have received certificates in the first stage of a Lions International Peace Poster Competition.
The international contest encourages children, aged 11 to 13, to creatively express what peace means to them.
The 2023–24 contest theme is “Dare to Dream”.
The contest allows students to share their unique images of peace with others, with the aim of promoting greater tolerance and international understanding.
Murray Bridge Lions’ Dawn McLaughlin, who organised the contest for Murray Bridge, was very pleased with the quality of the entries, which came from Tyndale Christian School and Murray Bridge High School.
The local winners were Alexis Wurst, of Tyndale Christian School, and Madison Lund, of Murray Bridge High School.
“Madison’s entry was excellent, and the winner was first rate,” Ms Simpson said.
“I learnt what a dream-catcher was from Madison’s entry.”
Graham Peake, leader of Art for Pleasure at the Murraylands University of the Third Age, presented the certificates to Alexis Wurst and Madison  at their school assemblies.
The international grand prize winner for the 2023–24 poster contest will be chosen next year and will receive a trip to an award ceremony and receive US$5000 and an award.
